Before Sunday: setup & line check

Work down the list

Your pre-service routine, top to bottom. Follow it in order every week and you'll walk into the service with a working, checked mix instead of a scramble. This is a checklist — tap through it.

1. Power on, in the right order

Order matters, because powering amps into a starting-up system makes a thump.

Console and stagebox on first
Let them fully boot and connect (the AES50 link is up)
Amplifiers / powered speakers on last

At the end of the day you reverse it: amps off first, console last.

2. Load last week

Recall last week's scene (or your base "starting" scene) from the SCENES screen
Glance over the desk — faders, names, and DCAs look like you expect

Starting from last week means you're checking a known-good setup, not building from zero. Recall & save →

3. Insert the USB stick

Put your USB stick in now, so saving and backing up later is one step
Confirm the console sees it

4. Line check — every channel

Go channel by channel. For each one in use:

Source makes noise → meter moves
Gain set for its loudest realistic part (avg ~−18, peaks ~−6, no clipping) — how →
+48V on where needed (condensers, active DIs), and off for ribbons — how →
Channel named correctly

Work through the whole input list. A dead channel found now is a two-minute fix; found mid-service it's a crisis. No sound? →

5. The non-negotiable check

Click and guide vocal are NOT in the mains. Confirm those channels are un-assigned from the main mix and going to in-ears only.

6. Monitors / in-ears

Each performer's mix is up and roughly where they want it
Monitor buses confirmed pre-fader
If musicians run their own mixes, confirm they've got signal and control — →

7. Soundcheck the band

Full-band run of a song at service volume
Rough balance in the room — vocals clearly on top
Listen for anything ringing (feedback) or muddy

8. Save a "ready" scene

Store a fresh scene named clearly and dated — Sun 03-09 Ready

Now you're set. If anything drifts during the service, you can recall this and you're back to a known-good starting point.
